“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Is Back — And Sure to Be as Heartwarming as Ever

Welcome back, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition! Tonight, ABC will air the premiere of the much-adored home renovation series, over a decade after the show’s original run concluded.

Like the OG show, the reboot will highlight the stories of inspiring families who could use (and deserve) an upgraded home space. The famous “move that bus!” line will also be back, according to the trailer. But this time, the organizing duo leading up The Home Edit — Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin — are stepping in as hosts, joining forces to bring the heartfelt home makeovers to life.

“It’s such an iconic franchise,” Teplin told People magazine.“And then not only is it the one deserving family, but it brings the whole community together in such an unbelievable, just compassionate way.”

A sneak peek of the first episode highlights the Warren Family in Texas, who lost their husband and father, a pastor and the owner of a neighborhood restaurant. Tune in at 8 p.m. ET, and keep the tissues handy.

Wisconsin Celebrates the 125th Anniversary of Its Oldest Park

The Wisconsin State Park System is celebrating a milestone this year: its 125th anniversary.

In 1900, Interstate Park, located along the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, was established as the first of Wisconsin’s 50 state parks. A century and a quarter later, the site is still a sight to behold. It’s home to world-famous potholes formed by glacial meltwaters, stunning trails that hug the water’s edge, and no shortage of recreational activities.

Such a significant milestone requires not just one celebration but a year full of them. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will host a series of candlelight hikes, skiing events, a ceremonial planting of 125 trees, and more, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The state park system is using this time to reflect on the past and also look ahead — to the next 125 years. Administrator Diane Brusoe said in a statement that the anniversary is “an opportunity to look to the future and highlight the investments that we are making to expand access to public lands and maintain a state park system that serves the health and well-being of the people of Wisconsin long-term.”

Inspiring Story

Miracle rescue mission

When a passerby spotted a cat walking on a floating piece of ice in Massachusetts, it kicked off a full-blown feline rescue mission. A shovel, boat, and lots of quick thinking later, the cat — later identified as a 20-year-old blind tuxedo named Tiki — was safely plucked from the frigid water. Buttoning up the happy ending, Tiki is now back home and cozy with his grateful owners.

If you’re wondering who that is — and why exactly she warrants a whole national park — we’re here to help you out. Appointed by Franklin D.
